There are some very critical skills you need to learn if you are to have any chance of being successful working at home. These are skills very rarely if ever mentioned in most internet marketing or work at home ebooks. They are what might be broadly referred to as “small business skills”. Without these skills you will almost certainly struggle to succeed, no matter how good your money making concepts are.

You should start with a formal written business plan. Imagine that you need to convince an investor, your bank manager, your accountant, or some other professional that your idea is commercially feasible. This will force you to really think about where you are heading in a very detailed way. It will help you do identify potential problems, such as lack of finance.

Remember to be conservative in your projections. The Work At Home Industry is notoriously over-hyped. Frankly, it is very unlikely you will get anywhere near the results claimed in most sales letters.

You will find that there are business plan formats readily available free on a number of websites, including those of government small business departments. The formats are generally fairly similar, because the experience of millions of small businesses over many years has proven what business plan format works.

Do not fail to take this step before you proceed any further. It really is critical to your success! I will add more comments in my next post.
